July 23: President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), Rajendra Malla, has emphasized on the need to reduce the trade deficit through export promotion by making maximum use of the natural resources within the country.
He said so while concluding the training program given by the NCC to young entrepreneurs on international trade access and customs procedures. According to Malla, trade deficit has increased by nine times due to the imbalance between imports and exports.
"It is necessary to attract young entrepreneurs to promote exports by increasing domestic production," he said.
He emphasized on the need to facilitate customs process and establish quarantine labs of international level at the main border crossings to increase exports. Malla said that the NCC will also help in packaging and branding of the products for export promotion. He added that since international trade is becoming digitalized recently, online delivery should be organized.
NCC President Malla made it clear that the chamber conducts various programs aimed at young entrepreneurs every year for business facilitation.
The NCC trained about 50 young entrepreneurs in technical matters such as customs procedures in the market, harmonic code of export goods. The NCC organized a four-day training program with the technical support of Trade and Export Promotion Center.
