July 20: Nepalgunj Customs Office Banke has managed to collect only 62 percent of its revenue target in the fiscal year 2022/2023. According to the chief officer of the customs office, Nar Bahadur Thapa, his office has collected only 62 percent of the total revenue target.
The customs office has collected Rs 18,19,6900000 against the set target of Rs 29, 32, 9500000 in the last fiscal year. Thapa mentioned that the office would collect highest revenue from petroleum products imported from India through the Nepalgunj border.
Due to a decrease in the import of petroleum products and the economic slowdown in the country during the last fiscal year, they couldn't meet the revenue target, information officer, Dilliprasad Sharma, of the customs office said.
The customs office has set a revenue target of Rs 28 billion 66 crore 25 lakh for the current fiscal year. They have set the target of collecting Rs 1,81,0000000 in the first month of the current fiscal year, according to Sharma.
Sharma said that there have been cases of smuggling and illegal imports from the open border with India, especially in Rupaidiha Bazar, and they have increased patrol to prevent illegal import of the goods and commodities.
