July 19: A group of loan shark victims staged a protest in Kathmandu on Tuesday saying that the government's proposed law will not solve their problems.

The House of Representatives has already passed a bill to amend some Nepal Acts related to the Civil Code, which the government has put forward to solve the problem of usury victims.

In the previous ordinance brought by the government, it was mentioned that both the debtor and the creditor should register the document related to informal loans at the local level.

But in the current law, the lender can register such documents alone.
