CIAA Files Graft Cases against 13 Individuals

July 13: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed cases against thirteen individuals in the Special Court on charges of corruption.

The CIAA on Wednesday filed a graft case against Om Narayan Jha, senior branch officer of the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives of Madhesh Province, Janakpurdham.

According to CIAA Deputy Spokesperson Devi Prasad Thapalia, a case has been filed against Jha in the Special Court on charges of corruption while conducting income-generating training related to cooperatives in all eight districts of the province. CIAA has urged the court to slap a fine of Rs 701,380 against Jha.

Likewise, CIAA has also filed a case against Arhula Kumari, the proprietor of Naishi General Order Suppliers, who helped Jha in corruption. The anti-graft body has demanded a fine of Rs 367,880 against Kumari for preparing fake bills.

The CIAA also filed cases against 11 more people in the Special Court on the charge of corruption during the construction of seven kilometers of road from Hanuman Chowk to Simalbadi under the Laxmi Marga road section in the fiscal year 2074/75 BS.

CIAA filed a case against the then chief administrative officer of the rural municipality, Chola Raj Dangal, engineer Abhishek Das and sub-engineer Bigyan Chamlagai, on the charge of overpayment of Rs 229,823.
