Women Will Take Charge of Country's Economy, Says Finance Minister Mahat

July 7: Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat is of the view that women will now take charge of the country's economy.

Speaking at the NewBiz Business Women Summit and Awards 2023 at Hotel Radission, Kathmandu, Dr Mahat stressed that it is important to recognize the works done by the women from across the country.

Mahat elaborated that women are diligently working to promote entrepreneurship from across the country. They are coming to the forefront in business and entrepreneurship.

"Males are migrating abroad for work, while women are leading the business and entrepreneurship in Nepal. From now onwards, they will be leading the country's economy," he added.

Men are unstable, while women are stable and will lead the business and industry. "Women are disciplined and with this their venture becomes successful," he stated.

Likewise, Mahat informed that the government has proposed Women Entrepreneurship Village at Panchkhal, Kavre.

Government has established entrepreneurship and start-up fund to promote entrepreneurship culture in the country. The government is making frameworks for the same, according to him.

In a different context, Finance Minister Mahat said that middle and small-scale businesses provide more jobs than large businesses. And the government will provide incentives to foster such businesses, he added.

Government has been providing tax incentives to various production-based small and medium-sized industries, he confirmed.

Addressing the importance of digital platforms and literacy, Minister Mahat stressed that such platforms will help in marketing of products and services effectively and uniquely.

"Recognizing the significance of digitization, the government has given incentives to IT industries. Tech companies can be registered with zero capital by both domestic and foreign investors," he added.
