July 6: The National Examinations Board (NEB) has published the results of the Secondary Education Examinations (SEE) for the academic year 2079 BS (2022-23).
In a meeting chaired by Dr. Mahashram Sharma, the Board decided to release the class 10 results today. The NEB has utilized a grade system for the SEE, which combines practical and theory scores.
It is important to note that this is the last time the results will be published in this format, as the system will transition to a letter grading system next year.
Under the current grade system, students have been assigned grades based on their scores. Those scoring between 90-100 have received an 'A plus,' while scores between 80-90 are labeled as 'A.'
Similarly, the range of 70-80 corresponds to a 'B plus,' 60-70 to a 'B,' 50-60 to a 'C plus,' 40-50 to a 'C,' 30-40 to a 'D plus,' scores between 20-30 to a 'D,' and anything below 20 receives an 'E.'
Initially, the NEB had planned to publish the results according to the Letter Grading Guidelines, 2078 BS for the 2079 BS SEE, but this was not feasible.
In total, 485,396 students participated in the SEE, which took place from April 2-12, 2023. Among the provinces, Bagmati had the highest number of students, with 102,000 participants, while Karnali had the lowest, with 38,608 students.
The examination was conducted across 2,037 exam centers, with 242,712 girls and 242,674 boys appearing for the SEE.
The Letter Grading System will only consider students who score a minimum of 35 in theory and 40 in practical exams.
Students unable to meet these basic requirements will receive a non-graded (NG) assessment, rendering them ineligible to pursue Grade 11 studies.
