July 2: Over 476,000 foreign tourists visited Nepal in the first six months of 2023, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.    

Although the arrival of tourists is encouraging compared to the last two years, it is still less than the figure of 536,058 visitors in between January to June 2019 before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The arrival of tourists took a nosedive in the following years due to the lockdown and restrictions imposed to curb the viral outbreak.

The arrival of tourists dropped to 220,815 in 2020 followed by 58,058 visitors in 2021, and 240,901 in 2022.
