June 30: The number of people acquiring passports is reportedly increasing lately.    
According to the Department of Passports, 147,000 people acquired new passports or renewed their passports in the Nepali month of Jestha (mid-May to mid-June) alone.

This is the highest number passports acquired or renewed in a single month, said the department’s spokesperson and director Durapada Sapkota.    
She said 142,000 people either got new passports or renewed their passports in the Nepali month of last Chaitra (mid-March to mid-April), and 125,000 in Baisakh (mid-April to mid-May).

There is a legal provision that a Nepali passport should be renewed every 10 years. -- RSS
