Landslide Disrupts Vehicular Movement Along Narayanghat-Mugling Road

June 30: Vehicular movement along the Narayanghat-Muglin road section in Chitwan has been disrupted since Thursday afternoon due to a landslide.

The landslide, which has continued until Thursday night in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-5, has prevented the clearing of debris.

Authorities have reported that stones are falling onto the road along with the dry landslide, making it unsafe for vehicles to pass.  Consequently, the debris clearance operation will commence on Friday morning looking at the circumstances, police said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Rameshwor Karki of Chitwan said the situation is being closely monitored and the debris removal process will commence accordingly.

During the efforts to clear the landslide on Thursday, Senior Head Constable Jayaram Shah of Nepal Police sustained injuries from falling stones.

Shah is currently receiving treatment at Bharatpur Hospital. Since the disruption began at 13:20 on Thursday, hundreds of vehicles traveling to and from Chitwan have been left stranded halfway.
