KMC Mayor Shah Directs Private Schools to Provide Salary to Teachers On Par With Public Schools

June 29: Mayor Balendra Shah of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has issued a directive to private schools operating within the city to ensure that their teachers receive the same salary as their counterparts  in public schools.

In a social media post, Mayor Shah urged teachers from private schools to contact the KMC Education Department if they encounter any issues regarding their salary, as determined by the government.

Mayor Shah highlighted that the KMC has been receiving complaints from teachers in private schools regarding their salaries.

According to the Education Act of 2028, teachers in private schools should be paid salaries that are equivalent to the salary scale set by the Nepal government.

Referring to Rule 68 of the KMC School Education Management Regulations of 2074, Mayor Shah emphasized that salaries, pensions, gratuities, and other benefits should be consistent with the provisions outlined in the Federal Education Law.

He instructed private schools to ensure that their teachers receive salaries and benefits on par with those provided to teachers in public schools within the KMC. (RSS)
