June 25: Proposals to cut expenditures of the Office of the Vice President has been tabled in the House of Representatives. Parliamentarians Dr Amaresh Kumar Singh, Bhagawati Chaudhary and Prem Suwal presented the proposals during the lower house meeting on Sunday.
Deliberations are scheduled on various subjects relating to the Office of the Vice President as part of discussions on various subjects of the Appropriation Bill, 2080. As per the schedule, Singh and Chaudhary tabled the proposals demanding the reduction of expenditures belonging to the Office of the Vice President to Rs 1.
Similarly, Suwal called for significantly reducing expenditures belonging to the Office of the Vice President.
They argued that people’s faith in the offices of the president and vice president is decreasing due to ‘extravagant spending’ by these institutions.
In the meeting, Singh said facilities and expenses done by the Office of the Vice President including that under the heading of vehicles and fuels should be cut, and the budget saved from this should be spent on health and education. Services and facilities given to the vice president are enough, he said. -- RSS
