SSF Settles Claims of Rs 5 Billion

June 25: The Social Security Fund (SSF) has settled claims of nearly Rs 5 billion made by the contributors under the state-sponsored social security scheme. So far, the fund has paid Rs 4.79 billion to the contributors through various security schemes.

The fund has been running medical, health and maternity, accident and disability, dependent family and old age security schemes. So far, 84,673 contributors have taken benefits from the fund under various schemes.

The fund has released Rs 554.44 million for medicine, health and maternity scheme, 67.49 million under accident and disability protection scheme, 79.6 million for dependent family protection scheme and 4 billion under old age protection scheme.

The SSF has collected Rs 35.10 billion from the contributors so far. Workers from the formal sector and foreign employment have been contributing to the fund. The fund is said that the process of including informal sector workers and self-employed workers in the social security scheme is in the final stage.

As of now, a total of 17,964 employers and 592,924 workers have been registered in the fund. The government had announced the social security scheme on November 27, 2018.
