Monsoon Spreading Across the Country

June 16: The monsoon weather system is currently active in the eastern and central regions of the country, while the remaining areas are experiencing the influence of local winds and westerly winds.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division reports cloudy weather with the possibility of light to moderate rainfall in the central and eastern parts due to this weather system.

In Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, light rain has been observed in several areas. The monsoon system made its entry into the country via the eastern part on June 14.

In a special bulletin on the arrival of the monsoon, the Division announced its presence in Koshi Province, most of Madhes Province, major parts of Bagmati Province, and the eastern regions of Gandaki Province.

According to Rojan Lamichhane, a meteorologist at the Division, the monsoon is gradually spreading, and it will take about a week for it to cover the entire country. He mentioned that although the monsoon is currently weak to some extent, rainfall will continue to occur.

The Division clarifies that due to the slow progression of the monsoon, it will take a few more days for it to reach the western parts of the country. Typically, the monsoon arrives in Nepal on June 13, but this year it was delayed by one day. (RSS)
