<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif""><span style="font-size:16.0pt">According to Upendra Neuapne, Assistant Chief District Officer of Mahottari, a total of 1,734 complaints have been officially registered against loan sharks in the district.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif""><span style="font-size:16.0pt">The number of complainants has increased after the government provided extra time for the victims to register complaints against loan sharking. </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif""><span style="font-size:16.0pt">The government had introduced an ordinance and announced to take stringent action against those involved in loan sharking. The loan shark victims had started registering their complaints at the Mahottari DAO since May 1.</span></span></span></p>
