May 18: The 6th Nepal Chamber Expo-2023 commenced at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu on Thursday.
Hosted by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), the expo was inaugurated by Minister for Labour, Employment, and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari.
The primary objective of this fair, as stated by the NCC, is to promote the export of domestic goods and invigorate the business community.
Featuring 150 stalls, the expo will run until May 22, showcasing a diverse range of products including automobiles, electrical appliances, electronics, furnishings, essential items, clothing, mobile phones, handicrafts, leather goods, cosmetics, and Ayurvedic products.
The participation of national and international companies and entrepreneurs from Nepal, India, and Bangladesh adds to the significance of this event.
The expo is expected to facilitate interactions, information exchange regarding imports and exports, and enhance the market presence of Nepali products, according to the NCC.
During the inauguration, the minister emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and the private sector to foster economic prosperity. The minister urged the private sector to increase investment, while assuring governmental support in facilitating economic activities.
Furthermore, Madhu Kumar Marasini, the secretary of the ministry, expressed optimism that the expo would facilitate the exchange of national and international business experiences, fostering stronger business relationships both domestically and internationally.
Rajendra Malla, President of the NCC, emphasized the need to attract foreign investments in sectors such as agriculture, hydropower, tourism, and services, while promoting exports and boosting domestic production to achieve self-reliance in the country.
