May 18: Phurwa Sherpa, a resident of Sankhuwasabha, who was involved in the Nepalese Army's Clean Mountain Campaign 2023, died on the way back to the base camp after reaching atop Mount Everest.
The NA's Military and Public Relations Directorate said that efforts were underway to retrieve the body of Sherpa.
Likewise, Captain Dipendra Singh Khatry, who became unwell while returning after climbing Mount Everest, was airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment. Khatry who was also engaged in the clean mountain campaign on Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse was first taken to camp-2 with the support of other mountaineers.
Captain Khatri along with three others were taken to Kathmandu for treatment and are said to be in normal health condition now, the directorate said.
Remaining works of the clean mountain campaign are being carried out under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Kishor Adhikari despite unfavourable weather condition. -- RSS
