Over 18,000 Cows Affected with Lumpy Skin Disease in Bagmati Province

 

May 17: More than 18,000 cows across 13 districts in Bagmati Province have been affected by the lumpy skin disease, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Bagmati Province.

The initial data collection from the first phase indicates that at least 18,324 cows have been infected with the disease. Tragically, a significant number of cows have lost their lives due to the illness.

The highest number of fatalities has been reported in Makawanpur district, with 197 out of 4,835 infected cows succumbing to the disease.

Sindhuli district has recorded 9,634 infected cases, resulting in the death of 47 cows. Ramechhap has reported 1,965 infected cases, followed by Chitwan with 1,060 cases, Kathmandu with 83 cases, Lalitpur with 40 cases, Kavrepalanchok with 400 cases, Nuwakot with 300 cases, Sindhupalchok with six cases, and Bhaktapur with one case.
