May 17: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday upheld the verdict of Dipayal High Court to hand down life imprisonment to Resham Chaudhary for the Tikapur carnage in 2015. Chaudhary is currently serving jail term at Dillibazar Prison.

A division bench of SC justices Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Nahakul Subedi issued the verdict on Tuesday convicting Chaudhary on the charge of life imprisonment. Chaudhary had filed a petition at the SC seeking a review on the High Court's decision.    
After the hearing on the appeal, the SC issued the final verdict stating that a clean chit on the case was unlikely.    
Likewise, another convict Laxman Tharu is handed down three years imprisonment by reducing five years of jail time ordered by the Dipayal High Court.    
However, Ganga Ram Chaudhary and Sita Ram Chaudhary, who were jailed in the same case, have received clean chits by the SC. -- RSS
