Profits of Hotel and Tourism Companies Surge with the Increase in Arrival of Tourists

May 15: Five companies of the hotel and tourism group are listed in Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). According to the third quarterly report of the five listed companies in the current fiscal year, there has been a significant increase in the profit during compared to the third quarter of the previous year. This is due to the increase in the number of tourists along with the decline in the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The income of these five companies increased by 96 percent in the current fiscal year compared to the previous year. Last year, the companies reported a total income of Rs 1.93 billion, which climbed to more than Rs 3.79 billion in the current fiscal year.

Till the third quarter of the current fiscal year, Soaltee Hotel has made the highest profit of Rs 371.1 million among the five listed companies. The hotel’s profit this year is an increase of 241.79 percent compared to the third quarter of last year. Last year, the hotel made a profit of Rs 108.5 million.

Similarly, Taragaon Regency Hotels in second in terms of profit worth Rs 238.8 million.

Oriental Hotels, which  incurred a loss of Rs 105.2 million last year, earned more than Rs 60 million profits in the current year.

Similarly, till the third quarter of last year, Chandragiri Hills, which had registered losses of more than Rs 15.8 million, also recorded a profit of Rs 77.7 million this year.

Kalinchok Darshan Limited also earned a profit of Rs 27 million till the third quarter of the current year.
