May 14: Chandra Prasad Dhakal, president of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has said that the attempts to bring the private sector under the jurisdiction of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) will not be accepted at any cost.
FNCCI President Dhakal made such a statement during an interaction organized by the Birgunj chapter of FNCCI recently.
“There are talks of bringing the private sector under the CIAA's jurisdiction. It seems that this disaster will discourage the private sector even more. We are not in favor of it,” said Dhakal.
The FNCCI president said that the industries and businesses are facing problems due to lack of liquidity and high interest rates. He made it clear that the private sector is ready to cooperate in this issue if the government comes up with a blueprint for its long-term solution.
He said that the main problems in the economy are easing restrictions, decline in market demand, and lack of revenue collection.
On the occasion, Ashok Kumar Temani, president of Madhes Province chapter of the FNCCI, said that the relationship between the state level and the central FNCCI should be defined in a new way.
