May 5: With revelations of full details of Nepal’s 2021 census, significant data determining country’s economy have started to come out. As per the latest census of 2021, the financially active population aged 10 and above is 1,49,83310 in the country.
Out of the total financially active population, 1.09% or 1,63,746 people's main occupation is banking and insurance. Of the total financially active male population, 1.14% or 90,122 people’s main occupation is banks and insurances against 1.04% or 73,624 females’ major profession being the banks and insurances.
The census also showed that Bagmati Province has the highest percentage of people involved in the banking and insurance professions at 2.35%, which is 46.63% of the total people involved in these professions.
In contrast, Koshi Province has 0.87%, Gandaki Province has 1.20%, Madhes has 0.61%, and Lumbini Province has 0.73% population involved in banks and insurances respectively. Population involved in banks and insurances professions stands at 0.46% and 0.53% in Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces respectively.
Furthermore, the census indicated that the involvement of people in banks and insurances varies in different regions and provinces. The urban population involved in banks and insurances stands at 1.50%, while involvement in rural municipalities is 0.37%. The involvement of people in banks and insurances is 0.42% in the mountains, 1.46% in the hills, and 0.87% in Tarai.
