Air India Aircraft 'Overshoots' at Tribhuvan Int’l Airport

April 30: An Air India plane that arrived in Kathmandu from New Delhi, India, on Saturday overshot when it was about to land at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

The airport authorities said that the plane overshot shortly before it was about to land at the airport.

According to Teknath Sitaula, the spokesperson of the airport, the Air India plane overshot due to 'unstable approaches'.

"The aircraft overshot because the landing approach was inappropriate. Sometimes it happens when the aircraft is at a high altitude," he told the state-owned RSS.

According to the airport, the aircraft that overshoots has to make a go around and land again in about 20 minutes.

Aircraft coming to Kathmandu must make its approach for landing at TIA from the sky above Simra.
