April 26: More than 400 climbers have received permits for climbing Mount Everest in the spring season. The Department of Tourism informed that 463 climbers from 42 groups have been granted the climbing permits so far.
An officer at the mountaineering section of the department, Bigyan Koirala, said that now only two to three Nepalis and some foreigners are in line to get the permission.
The department estimates that some 470 persons would take mountaineering permit this year.
Those who have already got the permits are already at the Everest Base Camp and Camp II of Everest, the highest peak in the world. The icefall doctors have made a trail for climbing up to Camp IV.
The government has so far collected royalties of Rs 737 million by issuing permits to climbers interested in scaling Everest.
