April 18: Confederation of Nepalese Industry (CNI) held a discussion on problems faced by the members affiliated to the Make in Nepal Campaign in course of producing domestic goods.
The CNI organised a ‘meet and greet' programme in Kathmandu on Sunday in this regard. During the programme, the members associated with the Make in Nepal Campaign presented the problems faced by the domestic industry and suggestions on the policy issues that should be adopted for promotion of home-grown products.
Vishnu Kumar Aggarwal, president of the confederation, emphasized on the need to increase the consumption of domestic goods to build a self-sufficient economy.
He said that the CNI is effortful to boost the morale of private sector in a challenging economic situation at present.
“CNI is making efforts to create a conducive environment for the industries,” said Agrawal.
Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Dr Toya Narayan Gyawali pledged to implement the suggestions of the private sector for the promotion of indigenous industries.
He added that the government will implement the suggestions such as the need to stop illegal business and to further differentiate the customs rates of raw materials and finished goods.
