Patan High Court Issues Diktat not to Implement Decision to Use Dozers in Squatter Settlements

April 18: The Patan High Court has issued an interim order in the name of concerned authorities not to immediately implement the decision to use dozers in landless squatter settlements on the banks of various rivers in Kathmandu.

A division bench of judges Durga Bahadur Bishwakarma and Dipendra Adhikari handed down the order. Giving continuity to the interim order given by the single bench of Judge Dhir Bahadur Chand on March 31, the Court has summoned both sides for a discussion on April 26.

The Court has issued the interim order not to immediately implement the notice issued by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on March 25 to vacate the settlements located on the banks of various rivers.

With the continuation of the interim order, the settlement removal process has been stopped for the time being. ---RSS
