April 16: Two wards of Aathbiskot Municipality, one of the remotest areas in the Rukum West, have recently received power supply. Electricity supply has illuminated the villages in wards 4 and 6 of the municipality after the construction of 11,000 KVA transmission line.
The power supply from the central transmission grid will be expanded to Chhimi Manka and Karbagar along the border of Rukum West and Dolpa districts. Mayor of Aathbiskot Municipality Rabi KC inaugurated the power supply today at a function at Bagena village of Ward No 4 of the municipality.
Nepal Electricity Authority Office in Rukum West stated fixing wire and some other works were left though the power transmission grid was ready. It is said that every houseshold will get power supply once it is ensured that the houses in the village have proper wiring system in place.
Mayor KC said that he had fulfilled the election commitment to electrify all the villages in the municipality within five years. KC said the electrification drive had been expedited in Ward No 5 and added that the transmission line along the route would help ease power supply in neighbouring district Dolpa.
Mayor KC hoped that the electrification drive would not only illuminate households, but also uplift the economic status of the municipality. A total of 566 households in Ward No 4 and 546 households from Ward No 6 will directly benefit from the power supply. ---RSS
