April 11: Inflow of remittance increased by 25.3 percent in the first eight months of the current fiscal year against decrease of 1.3 percent in the same period of the previous year.
According to the Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation Report unveiled by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Tuesday, remittance inflow in the review period stood at Rs 794.32 billion.
In the US Dollar terms, remittance inflow increased 14.8 percent to 6.09 billion in the review period against a decrease of 2.6 percent in the same period of the previous year.
Meanwhile, the number of Nepali workers (institutional and individual) taking approval for foreign employment increased 54.3 percent to 351,761 in the review period.
The number of Nepali workers renewing their foreign employment permits increased 8.0 percent to 192,559 in the review period. It had increased 240.9 percent in the same period of the previous year, the NRB report added.
Net transfer increased 23.9 percent to Rs 876.07 billion in the review period. Such a transfer had decreased 1.6 percent in the same period of the previous year.
