April 9: The Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) has mobilized mobile teams of medics at three locations, to assist trekkers in remote mountain areas.
The medical squads have been deployed at the Everest Base Camp and Feriche in Solukhumbu, and Manang village of Manang district.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of the association, Govinda Basyal, a team comprising one foreign doctor and two Nepalis has been sent to the Everest Base Camp while two foreigners and one Nepali doctors have been sent to Feriche. Likewise, a squad of two foreign doctors and one Nepali doctor has been sent to Manang. The medical teams are accompanied by the association's employees.
The association is a voluntary non-profit organization formed in 1973 with an objective to reduce casualties in the Himalayas of Nepal, especially in view of the increasing number of Nepalese and foreigners who trek up into the remote wilderness. -- RSS
