132 KV Dordi Corridor Transmission Line Resumes Operation

April 7: The Dordi Corridor 132 KV double circuit transmission line built for the electricity produced from Dordi River and its tributaries has been fully operational.

After completing the reconstruction of the four towers damaged by the flood in the Dordi River in the monsoon of 2022, the transmission line has been fully operational since Thursday. With the transmission line fully operational, the infrastructure is ready to support about 300 megawatts of electricity.

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) had been partially operating the transmission line from Udipur in Besisahar Municipality of Lamjung to the Kirtipur substation in Dordi rural municipality since last September.

As it seemed that it would take some time to rebuild the flood-damaged towers, the Dordi Corridor line from Udipur Substation to the Dordi Khola-1 hydropower project built by the private sector and from there to Kirtipur Substation using the Dordi Khola-1 transmission line was brought into operation partially.

Project chief Ramesh Paudel said that with the completion of the reconstruction of the tower and the operation of the transmission line, the electricity of all private sector hydropower projects built on the Dordi river has been connected to the Kirtipur substation and flowed to the national grid through the Dordi Corridor transmission line.

Twenty-seven MW Dordi Khola, 25 MW Upper Dordi 'A', 12 MW Dordi Khola-1, and 8.63 MW Chepekhola small hydropower projects are connected to the transmission line.

Along with the 54-megawatt Super-Dordi 'B' hydropower, which is in the final stage of construction, the electricity of other projects under construction and to be constructed in that corridor will also be connected to this line.

The Dordi Corridor transmission line is built with an estimated cost of Rs 850 million by the government. The length of the transmission line is 10 km. The project itself has constructed a substation of 132 KV, 10 MVA capacity at Kirtipur.

The four towers of the transmission line, which were completed in the year 2077, were swept away by the flood that occurred in the Dordi River in July 2022.
