April 7: The 10-party ruling coalition has unveiled its common minimum programme(CMP).
The CMP was made public at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers with priority to good governance and economic development in the presence of top leaders of the coalition parties including Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' on Thursday.
The CMP includes priorities of the Government outlined in nine different points including protecting the constitution and amending it as necessary, strengthening the federal democratic republic through implementation of federalism, giving equal importance to policy.
The common minimum programme pledges structural and functional reforms to transform and strengthen the country's economy and to put an end to existing class, ethnic, regional and gender-based differences in the society and building a social system based on equality, freedom and justice.
The ruling parties have also expressed a collective commitment to complete the remaining work of the comprehensive peace agreement, and other agreements signed following various popular past movements.
The CPM states that government will prioritize governance reforms, corruption control and strict measures to ensure quality service delivery. The government will be working for production-oriented economy, improvement of fair supply and distribution system.
Likewise, unnecessary expenses and administrative hassles would be wiped out while making public administration competent, reducing the risks caused by global crises such as climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental pollution, and environmental balance shall be maintained.
The government will adopt an independent and balanced foreign policy for the protection of national interests and for the prosperity of the people.
