Nepal Elected Vice-President of Asia-Pacific UNESCO Clubs and Associations (AFUCA)

April 3: Nepal has been elected to the post of Vice-President of the Asia-Pacific Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations (AFUCA).  Nepal was unanimously elected to the post in the 26th general session of the AFUCA held in Kazakhstan's capital city Almaty on Sunday. 

Among the 12 countries of the Asia-Pacific region attending the general assembly, Nepal and Vietnam had registered their candidacies for the post and both countries were elected to the post unanimously.

 Nepal's representative in the election was Anandaraj Tripathi, President of the National Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Mayor of Bhanu Municipality in Tanahu district. 

Similarly, South Korea won the Chair of the AFUCA beating Philippines in the voting. South Korea garnered 10 votes while Philippines conceded defeat securing only 2 votes. 

Sunjoo Lee was in the fray from South Korea. Upon the election to the Vice-President post, elated Tripathi pledged to work more actively to take forward movement of the UNESCO in the Asia-Pacific region. -----RSS
