DDC Hikes Price of Milk

March 16: The state-owned Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) has increased the price of milk effective from today (March 16). The DDC sent the milk packets with the new prices to the market on Thursday. According to DDC deputy general manager and information officer, Rajendra Prasad Adhikari, the revised prices will be implemented across the country.

As per the decision of the Council of Ministers on March 3, the government has fixed the minimum purchase price of raw milk containing four units of fat at Rs 65 per litre for the farmers. The DDC said suppliers of raw milk have been already paid the adjusted price of their products and consumers are required to pay the increased price. The price of DDC standard milk which is available in a blue packet which is the most-selling milk has increased by Rs 11 per liter to reach Rs 97, according to the DDC. This price is in effect in Kathmandu, Biratngar, Janakpur and Hetauda. Likewise the price of milk has been fixed at Rs 94 in Butwal and Rs 92 in Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi. -- RSS
