Government Extends Financial Assistance of Rs 54 Million to 129 Individuals

February 28: The government provided financial assistance worth Rs 54.6 million to 129 individuals in the first seven months of the current fiscal year (FY 2022/23).

According to a report published by the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday, the financial assistance was provided to those individuals based on cabinet decisions. The report provides details of issues related to financial assistance, additional allocation, budget transfer, resource allocation and the amount spent under the heading of ‘finance miscellany’.
As per the report, the government has transferred nearly Rs 44.74 billion budget in the review period including Rs 300 million against the rules and regulations.

As per Rule 32 of the Financial Work Procedure and Fiscal Liability Regulation, 2077, the government cannot transfer the budget nor can it make additional release in the initial three months of the fiscal year.

Going against this regulation, the government transferred an amount of Rs 300 million in the Nepali month of Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September) alone and released additional amount of Rs 2.25 billion, according to the Finance Ministry.    
As per the report, Rs 200 million allocated for the Department of Railways was transferred to the Road Division Office, Doti for the land compensation purpose during last July/August.    
Similarly, Rs 100 million budget allocated for National Information Technology Centre under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology was transferred to the construction of a building for the Postal Office Orientation Centre.  

The report also states that the government has agreed to allocate financial resources of Rs 63.1 billion for multiyear projects.
