Paddy Production Declines

February 23: This year, there has been a decline in paddy production in Dhanusha district. The Agricultural Knowledge Center Dhanusha informed New Business Age that paddy production decreased by more than 32,000 metric tons this year compared to the last year. Dhanusha district produces paddy the most in the country.

According to the center, this year's production declined by 32,760 metric tons compared to last year. The farmers produced 146,280 metric tons of paddy in an area of 48,760 hectares this year. Last year, they produced 179,000 thousand tons of paddy in 55.806 hectares of land 

Horticulture Development Officer Pradeep Kumar Yadav said that farmers reduced the area of paddy cultivation this year and started fishery. A total of 700,000 farmers of the district are engazed in paddy cultivation.

Out of the 18 municipalities of the district, 14 local level farmers cultivate paddy commercially except Ganeshman Charnath Municipality, Mithila Municipality, Bateshwarnath Municipality and Kshireshwarnath Municipality.
