<span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">According to the Institute's public relation officer Sunita KC, Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa honoured Dr Ruit amid a programme organized in Bahrain on Tuesday. </span><br />
<span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">The award carrying a purse of USD 1 million has been conferred on Dr Ruit in recognition of his contribution for eliminating blindness through (cataract) surgery. </span><br />
<span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">The award instituted in the name of former King of Bahrain, Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa in 2009 is being distributed by the Isa Award for Service to Humanity for those contributing remarkably for humanity. </span><br />
<span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">Altogether 145 organizations and candidates from across the world had applied for the award. Dr Ruit was selected from the six short-listed candidates, it was shared. </span><br />
<span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">Dr Ruit has devised a new method for treating cataracts. The institute that he leads has been producing intraocular lens of international standards in fairly low price to treat blindness. -- RSS </span></span></span></p>
