February 16: Eight suspension bridges are under construction in Nishikhola Rural Municipality of Baglung in the current fiscal year. In the previous fiscal year, seven suspension bridges were constructed over different streams at the local level.
Engineer Samundra Shahi at the rural municipality shared that eight bridges are being constructed with 87 percent investment of federal government and 13 percent of Nisikhola rural municipality.
Engineer Shahi informed the construction of the bridges has started after completing survey related works. "All bridges would be built within coming mid-July. Construction works are gaining momentum to meet the target," Shahi added.
According to Shahi, suspension bridges are under construction in wards 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 of the rural municipality. Shahi said the rural municipality would replace the deteriorating bridges and intensify campaign to install new ones. The bridges are expected to contribute to the improvement of livelihood of the local people. ---RSS
