February 14: Paragliding service has come into operation in Phulchowki-Kushadevi area in Panauti Municipality of Kavre. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation had granted permission to Phulchowki Adventure Pvt Ltd to commercially run paragliding service in the Phulchowki-Kushadevi area of Kavre last January. CAAN had permitted the company to operate the service since last January itself but paragliding was briefly banned across the country after an accident in Pokhara last year.
CAAN later lifted the ban after issuing new guidelines.
The company’s chairperson Chhabilal Humagain shared that test paragliding has begun since Monday (February 13) as a preparation for launching commercial services.
"We have started test paragliding ahead of commercial services. We will go for commercial services after a three-day test."
He further informed that they are conducting 'demonstration' paragliding flights for now before the starting of commercial tandem flights.
The company plans to conduct commercials service after the success of test operation. -- RSS
