He was undergoing dialysis at the hospital but it was pneumonia that claimed his life, said one of his family members refering to the doctors.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">People close to him recall Rana as a soft-spoken gentleman who was highly regarded for his well behavior as well as professional integrity.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Rana, the great grandson of the then Prime Minister Dev Shunsher Rana, held the position of the governor of Nepal Rastra Bank from April 26, 1956 to February 7, 1961, according to the official website of NRB.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">He is also the founding chairman of Himalayan Bank. Rana is credited for modernizing the financial institutions of Nepal in capacity of the central bank’s governor and also the finance secretary of the country.</span></span></span></p>
