<span style="font-size:18px">January 18: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order not to undertake cable car construction project or any other physical construction projects along the Sikles Annapurna Conservation Area in Kaski. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px">A single bench of justice Til Prasad Shrestha issued the order to this effect, stating the matter required to be finalized only after discussing with both parties due to its gravity and sensitivity. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px">In response to a writ petition filed by advocate Padam Bahadur Shrestha, the order was issued in accordance with the Supreme Court Regulations, 2074.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"> The writ petition has made the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, and the Ministry of Forest and Environment the defendants.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px">The writ petition is seeking the Apex Court to annul the government decision to endorse project’s environmental impact assessment report and other government decisions and documents in this regard through the issuance of mandamus. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px">Sikles Annapurna Cable Car Pvt Ltd is planning to build a cable car system in Sikles of Madi Rural Municipality, Kaski. The Sikles Cable car project will cover a distance of 6.5 kilometers. The project is estimated to cost Rs 7 billion. </span><br />
