January 8: The Department of Passports has started distribution of passports from Sunday.
Issuing a public notice on Sunday, the department’s Spokesperson Drupada Sapkota said that the service seekers can visit the department after receiving a text message that their passport is ready.
The department had put on hold the distribution of passports since January 1 citing a technical problem.
The announcement comes while a technical team from France is preparing to arrive in Nepal on Monday to sort out the storage issue seen for the past few days in the electric passport server system of the country.
Nepal had launched the distribution of e-passport on December 1, 2021.
The distribution of passports was halted after the passport server grappled with the storage issue and took more time to accept photos and finger prints of passport seekers. However, the department sorted out the problem before the arrival of experts from abroad.
