January 5: Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday issued a circular to all district administration offices to shut down crusher industries operating illegally. 

The Home Ministry has issued circular to all 77 district administration offices to shut down crusher industries involved in illegally quarrying and excavating the sand, boulder and stones. 

Similarly, the ministry has also asked the DAOs to investigate and immediately shut down crusher industries that were granted permission to excavate and process the stone, boulders and sand for different development and construction projects if they have continued quarrying works even after the completion of those projects. 

Spokesperson Phadindramani Pokhrel at the Ministry of Home Affairs said that DAOs would be powered to monitor the crusher industries. 

“Crusher industries operating without permission, and renewal and industries  that have continued even after the completion of development projects will be shut down”, Pokhrel added.
