January 3: The distribution of passports from the Department of Passports was obstructed on Tuesday owing to a technical problem.    
The department apologized for the inconvenience and confirmed that all the services related to passport distribution have been halted until further notice due to a technical glitch in the system.

Citing the department’s Director Durpada Sapkota, the state-owned national news agency RSS reported that it would take some more time for the system to be fully operational.

The department has also urged the service seekers not to visit the department to get their passports until further notice.
However, the department made it clear that those who have already booked an appointment for passport application can visit the department on the date fixed.
