President Bhandari Urges the Government to Solve Problems Seen in Industrial Sector

December 16:  President Bidhya Devi Bhandari urged the government to solve the problems seen in the industrial sector on Friday.

Speaking at the Birat Expo organized in Biratanagr, Bhandari argued that Biratnagar, country’s major industrial estate, was struggling to retain its past glory. She expressed confidence that Biratanagar would set a good example in industrialization to the whole country.

President Bhandari stressed the need to establish industries based on domestic raw materials. She also highlighted the need to forge coordination among farmers and industrialists to produce raw materials for the industries in the country.

At the programme, Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) Chairman Sekhar Golchha said that country was experiencing a financial crisis never seen before. “Earlier, the country faced economic crises due to the earthquake, COVID-19 and other disasters”, Golchha stated.

But, Golchha blamed that Nepal Rastra Bank and the government’s flawed policies had led to the current financial crisis facing the country.

Morang Industry Association’s Chairman Suyash Pyakurel said that country was in need of export promoting and import replacing industries. “Post-COVID financial crisis has adversely affected almost all industries and business in the country”, Pyakurel added.
