December 16: The year-on-year consumer price inflation increased to 8.08 percent in mid-November 2022 compared to 6.04 percent a year ago.
According to Nepal Rastra Bank, food and beverage inflation stood at 7.38 percent whereas non-food and service inflation rose to 8.63 percent in the review month.
Under the food and beverage category, y-o-y price index of restaurant and hotel sub-category increased 15.97 percent, tobacco products 11.81 percent, milk products and eggs 9.33 percent, cereal grains and their products 9.19 and alcoholic drinks 8.84 percent, as per the Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation Report released by NRB on Thursday.
According to the report based on four months of data, the y-o-y price index of transportation subcategory increased 17.71 percent, health 11.22 percent, recreation and culture 8.76 percent, housing and utilities 8.49 percent and furnishing and household equipment 8.33 percent under the non-food and services category.
In the review month, consumer price inflation in the Kathmandu Valley, Terai, hill and mountain areas stood at 7.56 percent, 8.52 percent, 8.03 percent and 6.68 percent respectively. Inflation in these regions were 6.14 percent, 5.42 percent, 7.14 percent and 5.00 percent respectively a year ago.
