Domestic Flights Affected due to Low Visibility

December 15: Domestic flights have been affected due to low visibility incurring from thick fog in Terai-Madhes.
According to the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), flights were affected due to insufficient visibility at the airports except Bhadrapur, Pokhara, Dhangadhi, Surkhet and Tumlingtar.
TIA Spokesperson Teknath Sitaula said that domestic flights could be affected in airports in Terai areas for few more days due to low visibility.

Buddha Air's Information Officer Dipendra Kumar Karna shared that flights in majority of airports in Terai were affected since Thursday morning due to low visibility.
Some airports are expected to operate after 12:00 pm, he said, adding that passengers have been facing problems to reach their destination due to the visibility problem.
There are around 300 domestic flights on a daily basis. Buddha Air alone operates the highest number of flights in a day which is around 150 flights followed by Yeti Airlines with 58 flights.
Altogether 20 airline companies including 11 helicopter companies have been conducting domestic flights at present.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said that some places in the Terai belt have been experiencing foggy weather today while majority of the places in hill areas were cloudy.
