December 6: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) held separate meetings with CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday urging the leaders to help stabilize the economy.
The delegation led by FNCCI President Shekhar Golchha urged both the leaders to play leading role to protect the country's economy as there are multi-faceted effects on the economy.
The FNCCI expressed concern saying the first quarter review of the monetary policy of the current fiscal year did not address the problems and urged them for their cooperation and coordination in resolving the problems.
In the meeting with the top leaders, FNCCI President Golchha urged them to understand the sensitivity of the economy. Stating that the revenue was unable to cover the general expenses and inflation remained highest since seven years, Golchha drew the attention towards the fact that the private sector which got the economy going was shrinking.
On the occasion, Chair Oli said that he was also concerned about the sensitive condition of the economy. He pledged his party's cooperation to address all the 'genuine' recommendations and concerns put forth by the FNCCI.
He also pledged to sit-down with entrepreneurs and discuss the matters related to the FNCCI's concerns at earliest. He assured his full cooperation to the federation in its effort to protect country's economy at the time when the political parties ought to be more active to bring the economy to the right track.
Similarly, Chairperson Dahal said he was serious about how to address the prevailing issues. Calling for collective efforts to address the issues in economic sector, he pledged his special support in implementing the recommendations of the FNCCI. -- RSS
