December 5: Defending champions France saw off Poland 3-1 to reach to the quarter-final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Sunday.
France edged past Poland 3-1 with goals from Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe during the match played at Al Thumama Stadium in Qatar.
With this victory, France has become the third team to reach to the quarter-final after the Netherlands and Argentina, who have already reached last eight.
The Netherlands defeated USA 3-1 and Argentina thrashed Australia 2-1 to secure their place in quarterfinals.
France netted one goal in the first half and two goals in second half. French striker Olivier Giroud scored the first goal of the match and Kylian Mbappe added two more goals to ensure France’s victory.
Poland scored a consolation goal through penalty in the second half to cut the deficit to 3-1. Robert Lewandowski scored the goal at second attempt in the dying minutes of the match.
