December 3: South Korea snatched a 2-1 win over Portugal with a stoppage-time goal by Hwang Hee-chan on Friday to keep alive their dreams of a last-16 spot at the World Cup.

According to the BBC, an inconsolable Luis Suarez and Co were left in disbelief at Al Janoub Stadium after Hwang Hee-chan's injury-time strike had left Uruguay one goal short of qualification, despite a 2-0 victory over Ghana.

Despite being beaten, Portugal topped the group while South Korea finished second to reach the knockout stage.

According to Reuters, the result sparked another round of celebrations among the Korean supporters with many crying, tears pouring down their cheeks, while the players hugged and jumped on each other before running down to their fans and applauding them.

In another match, a late goal by skipper Vincent Aboubakar ended Cameroon's 20-year wait for a win at the World Cup as the Indomitable Lions bowed out in style by beating a much-changed Brazil 1-0 at the Lusail Stadium on Friday.
