November 30: Marcus Rashford inspired England to a 3-0 victory over Wales on Tuesday as the Three Lions topped Group B and also ended a bitterly disappointing World Cup campaign of Wales.
According to Reuters, Wales could also have reached the last 16 with a victory if the match between Iran and the United States ended level, but any hope of that scenario unfolding evaporated rapidly once Rashford smashed home a curling free kick five minutes after the break following a foul on Phil Foden by Ethan Ampadu.
A minute later, Foden made it 2-0 as Wales carelessly lost possession and Harry Kane crossed low for the Manchester City player to convert from close range, added the news agency.
Rashford then made it 3-0 with a surging run in from the right before shooting through a crowd and past Danny Ward's legs in the 68th minute.
According to the BBC, England top Group B with seven points, two points ahead of the United States who set up a last-16 meeting with the Netherlands by beating Iran 1-0 in their grudge match, while Wales finished bottom of the table with a point.
England next face Group A runners-up Senegal on Sunday.
