November 1: Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) held discussions with representatives of Bangladesh regarding bilateral investment in the hydropower sector.
Vice President of NICCI Sunil KC held talks with Salman Rahman, advisor to the government led by Sheikh Hasina, in this regard.
The discussion focused on development of hydropower sector and joint investment in this sector.
KC, who is currently in a visit to Bangladesh, also discussed issues such as expanding transmission line between Nepal and Bangladesh, investment commitment in Nepal’s hydropower sector, marketing among others.
During the meeting, Rahman reaffirmed the stance of Bangladesh regarding investment in Nepal by taking the Indian side in confidence.
On the occasion, Vice President KC requested Bangladesh to prioritize investment in Nepal’s hydropower sector.
It was informed during the meeting that the private sector of Bangladesh is ready to invest USD 3 billion in Nepal.
During his Bangaldesh visit, KC also met Home Minister of Bangladesh Asaduzzman Khan, who is an influential leader of the ruling Awami League.
